Securities/Managed Assests
Securities (stocks, bonds, etc.) are the vehicle of
choice for most people’s investment portfolios. Whether purchased
individually or within other investments, they, along with some allocation
of cash, represent the core of the typical portfolio. How to hold securities,
as well as which ones to hold requires a thorough knowledge of the assets,
their taxation and their costs as well as an investment policy that enables
people to both select and monitor the performance of their portfolios
against realistic benchmarks.
Some people like to select and manage their own portfolios while others
prefer to employ the services of professional Investment Advisors for
this work. Recently, institutional money managers have been making their
services available to people with account sizes much less than the $1
million - $10 million minimums that they used to require. Knowing and
understanding the benefits and weaknesses of the various options is critical
to making informed investment choices that include, but aren’t limited
to, stocks, bonds, and managed portfolios.
